Bird/Inktober 2023, Day 20: “Pine Grosbeak”
This piece is a level up from previous ones, in terms of detail, polish and general effort and craftsmanship. I felt it was deserved and required, so I spent an inordinate amount of time making sure it all worked and I did the feathery fellow justice. I hope it shows!
Original piece for this year’s BirdInktober. I’m doing a hybrid of sorts. Mainly Birdtober, but if the bird is a boring one (hey, it happens) then I’ll do the Inktober prompt for the day. And if both of them are boring, I’ll draw whatever tickles my fancy. The goal is to have fun, stretch some artistic muscles and draw some cool stuff.
Now, if you like this piece, here are some details:
Hand-drawn in pencil and ink on 300gsm cotton paper.
Hand-deckled edges.
Approximately 5x5 inches. It’s hard to give an exact number due to the hand-deckling of the edges mentioned above :)
Signed on the back. They’re just too small to use precious space and deface them with my chicken scratch.
